Ezekiel 3:6
But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, so that the people are not warned, and the sword comes and takes any one of them, that person is taken away in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at the watchman's hand.
Often back in Old Testament times the towns and cities would have a wall built around them. This wall was to keep danger out of the city. They would station various watchmen on the top of the wall around the city. The watchmen would keep awake and alert and watch for anything that would present a danger to the city. When someone approached the gate to come in the watchmen would advise the gatekeeper on whether to open the gate or not. The entire purpose of the watchmen is to warn the people of danger. The Lord reiterated to the people, if the watchman saw danger coming and did not alert the people of the city, the people's blood was on the watchman's hands. This still holds true today. No, we no longer have walls around our cities and we no longer have a need for the watchman's position. But each one of us is a "Watchman" for our Christian brothers and sisters. When we see danger approaching them, we should "Blow the trumpet" and warn them. When we see our Christian family with sin in their life or getting close to it, we are to talk to them and warn them. Notice we are to warn our Christian family within the walls of the Lord's protection. Be a watchman for your brothers and sisters in Lord Jesus and let them know they are dangerously close to offending the Lord!! Don't allow blood on your hands. Blow that trumpet loud and hard for your Christian family.
Lord, You call us to be watchmen on the walls for our Christian family. Help my eyes and ears to remain open for danger that my brothers and sisters in the Lord are getting close to. Give me the words to warn them so that they do not fall into that danger that is lurking outside the walls of Your protection. In Jesus name, amen!!
