PRAYER GUIDE - June 2008

- June - a busy month for many farmers. Planting continues for some and hay harvesting for others. Yet, the Bible says in John 4:35, “Do not say four months more and then the harvest. I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields. They are ripe for harvest”. In other words, the harvest of souls is appropriate any time. Lord, help is to “open our eyes” and see the harvest before us.

- June - a traditional month for marriage “ … a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh”, Matthew 19:5. That is a neat idea, Father. Thank you for thinking of it and bless those married in June as well as every other month of the year.

- Had any great ideas lately? That is good if you did but “as the heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts”, Isaiah 55: 8 - 10. Son of Man, remind us to always check things out with you before we make any decisions.

- “Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory … and God granted his request”, 1Chronicles 4:9, 10. Have you asked God to bless you and enlarge your territory? I suggest that you (and I) do that right now! Lord help us to meet this challenge.

- “Amaziah … began to reign … He did what was right in the eyes of the Lord but not as his father David had done”, 2 Kings 14: 1 - 3. Do we “do what is right” but don’t go far enough? King of Kings, I tend to do what is right up to a point. Help me to “go all the way”. I don’t want to be a “half-hearted” or even a “three quarter hearted” Christian.

- “David praised the Lord … saying , “Praise be to you, O Lord, God of our father Israel from everlasting to everlasting”, 1 Chronicles 29:10. This is my prayer to you today, Oh Lord.

- “He (Uzziah) did what was right in the eyes of the Lord 2 Chronicles 26:4. That is my desire, Rose of Sharon. I want to do “what is right in the eyes of the Lord”. Lord, be my guide.

- “I (Jeremiah) thought, these are only the poor. They are foolish for they do not know the way of the Lord, the requirements of their God”, Jeremiah 5:4. Lean on us, Jehovah Raah, our shepherd, to carry your word to those poor people who do not know your ways and forgive us where we have failed in the past.

- “Although our sins testify against us, O Lord, do something for the sake of your name. For our backslidding is great; we have sinned against you”, Jeremiah 14:7. Hear our confession, Oh Lord, and advance your name in our land in any way you see fit.

- “… blessed is the man (or woman) who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes, its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit”, Jeremiah 17:7 - 8. Father, may we trust you in all things today and always.

- “He (the formerly blind man) said, “One thing I know. I was blind but now I see”, John 9:25b. This was the formerly blind man’s testimony. He knew he could now see by Jesus’ touch. Lord, there is a lot we don’t know but we do know we can share with others. Help us to do just that so others may know we have been touched by Jesus.

- Several shows begin today in Canada and our prayer is that many are called to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through the these FCF outreaches. They are the Kindersley Trade Show in Saskatchewan and the Ormstown Fair in Ormstown, Ontario and the Millbrook Fair in Millbrook, Ontario.

- FCF Board Members and staff gather in Lexington, Illinois today for a two day board meeting. Raboni, come and be part of this gathering. Our leaders seek your forgiveness, wisdom, and guidance as the present and future of FCFI is discussed and planned. We pray that your presence moves mightily through these men and women.

- Today is Flag Day in the United States, a day that commemorates the adoption of the Stars and Stripes as our national banner. Lord, continue to bless our country as we honor its flag on this special day. Merideth, New York is the site of the Merideth Dairy Fest which runs today and tomorrow. El Shaddai, our Almighty God, cause our ‘wordless’ presentation to shout the glories that are available to all through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

- Father’s Day is celebrated today. Let us honor our earthly fathers but our heavenly Father as well. “You did not choose me but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit - fruit that will last”, John 15:16. Heavenly Father help us to bear fruit, a fruit that will last.

- “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord”, Romans 6:23. The Gift! Jesus, we thank you for that free gift, free to us, but oh, so costly, to you as you carried our sins through agony and separation you experienced on the cross.

- “for the son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect”, Matthew 24:44. Are you ready? I am not sure I am. Father in Heaven, impress upon us the wisdom and value of “being ready”. Come Lord Jesus.

- “The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle … without partiality and without hypocrisy”, James 13:7. My Lord, could I have a double portion of that wisdom?

- “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and to God the things that are God’s”, Matthew 22:21. Caesar (our government) is willing and able to get its share. Giving to God is optional unless you desire His blessing. Father, remind us that shorting you is really shorting ourselves.

- Summer officially begins today. Yet, at the same time, the daylight hours begin to become less each day. But Jesus’ love and forgiveness never becomes less. Thank you, Jesus, for your unlimited, unending love and grace. We are always warmed by the Son.

- “All they (James, Peter, and John) asked was that we should continue to remember the poor; the very thing I (Paul) was eager to do”, Galatians 2:10. Yes, Foundation of the Church, we, too, are eager to remember (and serve) the poor, the weak, the ill, the discouraged. Please Lord, help us to do that.

- “Well done good and faithful servant”, Matthew 25:21. Those are the words we long to hear both on earth and in heaven. Friend of tax collectors and sinners, we place ourselves at your service. Give us our orders so that we may begin or continue to do the work you require.

- “He is worthy of death. They (those who arrested Jesus) answered”, Matthew 26:66. How strange! The only one who is blameless is considered worthy of death. We, oh Lord, are the ones worthy of death. But, you took our punishment and our place. We thank you today for that ultimate sacrifice.

“Then some of the Pharisees and teachers of the law said to him, “Teacher we want to see a miraculous sign from you”, Matthew 12:38. They had already seen Him feed 5000, heal the sick and raise the dead. What more could He do? Are you and I like that, too? Must we see yet another miracle to believe? Jesus, you rose victorious from the grave. That should be all we or anyone needs to be convinced of your godly nature.

- “These people know me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men”, Matthew 15:8, 9. Prince of Peace, I pray that doesn’t describe me. Help me to worship in truth. Turn my heart toward you and you alone.

- “Who do you (Peter) say I am? Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the son of the living God”, Matthew 16:15, 16. That is who I say you are, too, Jesus. Please don’t let me ever forget it!

- “… the young man said, “What do I still lack?” Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go sell your possessions and give to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven. Then, come follow me”, Matthew 19:20, 21. The young man’s gods were his possessions. He had to get rid of his “gods” before he could really be a Christ follower. Do I have other “gods” that keep me from fully following you, Jesus? Help me to get rid of them so that I can truly be a Christ follower.

- “The king will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatsoever you did for one of the least of these brothers, you did for me”, Matthew 25:40. If I want to serve you, then I had better get busy serving those in need. Thank you, Lord, for these words of direction.

- “Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows though he does not know how”, Mark 25:40. There is so much we do not know or understand, precious Lord. Yet, today, I praise you for the miracles that happen all around me and I put my trust in you, for you do know why seeds sprout and grow amidst all other knowledge.

- “If I (the woman who was continually bleeding) just touch his clothes, I will be healed”, Mark 5:27. The nerve of this unclean (according to Jewish law) woman. Yet, it didn’t bother Jesus and she was healed. Thank you, Jesus that you care for both the clean and the unclean.
