" Building Fences in the Pine Ridge of Nebraska’s Panhandle.........'til the Cows Come Home"

Lexington, Illinois (September 5, 2006) The Fellowship of Christian Farmers, International is announcing, today, its "Building Fences in the Pine Ridge of Nebraska’s Panhandle....'til the Cows Come Home" campaign   to help Nebraska cattlemen in Dawes & Sioux Counties  hit by a 60,000 acre wildfire on July 30th.  Temporary fences need to be built so cattle can be fed hay.   Many fencelines were damaged, but can be fixed without being totally replaced. Between 400-500 miles of fenceline was affected by the wildfire.  48 households in Dawes County and 36 households in Sioux were damaged.   Drought conditions has cut into normal hay production yields.  Due to this shortfall of pasture and hay yields , the Fellowship of Christian Farmers is announcing its haylift of donated hay to northwest Nebraska cattlemen.    FCFI needs the help of farmer owned semi- tractor trailer flatbeds to haul needed hay.  Donations of diesel fuel are also needed.

The Fellowship of Christian Farmers, International is coordinating work teams to help re-build farm Pine Ridge fencelines       Contact the FCFI Home Office for details.

It is a tremendous "boost" of encouragement to Dawes and Sioux County cattlemen to have farmers from across America show up and build two miles of fence in a day.  All interested farmers and farm families can register to participate in the "Building Fences in the Pine Ridge of Nebraska’s Panhandle....'til the Cows Come Home" on the www.fcfi.org website.  The website's photo essay also chronicles FCFI's involvement in southern Louisiana and Texas.  Cost for lodging and meals has yet to be determined.  RV sites are available.   Please bring your favorite fencing pliers!
