Prayer Guide and Devotional – April 18, 2025

John 19:28-30

After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

God sent His son, Jesus, on a mission. The mission was ghastly and horrible for Jesus, but it had to be done. He was sent down to the earth from His place of holiness and splendor in heaven at the right hand of God, down to a horrible and dirty place where sin abounds. His mission was to clean up all of the people of the world from their sins. He, who knew no sin, was to clean up, those dirty and rejected by God due to their sin. They could not do it themselves. Where humans die because they live, Jesus lived just so He could die. The job was way too big for any human. Only the Son of the creator of the world could accomplish this mission of torture and death on a cross. And when Jesus knew the mission was fulfilled, He gives up His Spirit and died. His Spirit was not taken from Him, He gave it up of His own will and power. Jesus’ mission was finished! Only the Son of God could accomplish such a massive mission of love. Without Jesus fulfilling this mission, all people would be dirty from sin and have to spend eternity away from God in hell.
Please pray “Jesus, thank You for dying for me on the cross, shedding Your blood, and washing my sins away!! Come into my heart so I can be one with You. Fill me Lord with Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name, Amen”
